I immediately fell in love with gorgeous actor Henry Golding when he took the mainstream by storm in one of my favorite hit comedies of 2018, Crazy Rich Asians. I’m also looking forward to seeing what he’ll bring to the G.I. Joe character Snake Eyes in the upcoming solo film of the same name, and I’d love to see Golding as James Bond in the future.
However, what really got my interest was when I came across this trailer for Monsoon, where the Malaysian-born British actor plays Kit, a guy who returns to Ho Chi Minh City after fleeing as a child. He goes to sleep one night as a child and wakes up on a boat, placed there by his parents in the wake of the Vietnam-American war. Though his parents never returned during their lives, he’s returned to spread their ashes.
“Struggling to make sense of himself in a city he’s no longer familiar with, he embarks on a personal journey across the country that opens up the possibility for friendship, love, and happiness,” the official release says. That love, apparently, comes in the form of a character played by Parker Sawyers.
