For over three decades media loudmouth Wendy Williams has never shied away from giving her opinion in regards to her thoughts about celebrities. However today she has taken it a bit too far, and it’s getting her dragged all over social media to the point that people want her show taken off the air.
It all started when she started talking about Galentines day, an event where single women go out on Valentines Day and have fun without a date. She proceeded to reprimand the men in the audience who began to clap.
“If you’re a man and you’re clapping, you’re not even a part of this. You don’t understand the rules of the day. It’s women going out and getting saucy and then going home. You’re not a part,” she said.
“I don’t care if you’re gay. You don’t get a [menstruation] every 28 days,” Williams added. “You can do a lot that we do, but I get offended by the idea that we go through something you will never go through.”
It didn’t end there. Then she started going on a tangeant about men who wear women’s clothing “And stop wearing our skirts and our heels,” she continued, referencing the trend of gender fluid fashion, made popular by stars like Billy Porter. “Just saying, girls, what do we have for ourselves?”
It’s funny how people were willing to give her the benefit of the doubt when she tearfully spoke out about Gabrielle Union’s and Dewayne Wade’s child coming out as transgender, then she goes and says this? I’m not surprised at all, given her historical track record. Back in her radio days, Wendy made her bones dragging down low rappers out of the closet, and during the first season of her show, she came under fire by Ericatoure Aviance and Cazwell for discriminating against her gay and drag queen fans when they showed up to her show in full club kid regalia.
Also Wendy has always made ignorant comments about men who go to beauty salons and get manicures and pedicures. She may come across as progressive, but her ignorant opinions in regards to gender roles have always come across as outdated and misinformed. I have noticed lately that she’s not present in regards to researching the hot topics she speaks of, and is pretty ignorant when it comes to political views (her comments about Jay-Z and Beyonce not standing during the star spangled banner immediately come to mind), but I feel her comments about men dressing in women’s skirts and heels is the last straw for me supporting her show.
If she were better educated she’d know that historically men wore skirts and kilts long before women wore skirts. Also if she existed 200 years ago everyone from George Washington to Mozart wore heels. And let’s not forget how gay men have always been at the forefront of fashion and fashion design, especially the outfits her team puts her in every time she ends up on camera.
So with that being said she can continue to pander to middle American housewives for viewership. I will take my eyes elsewhere to programming that supports and doesn’t demean the LGBTQ community.
If you care, you can watch the episode below where yet again she puts her big ass swollen foot in her mouth. It starts around the 5:30 mark
